Delete Your Account & Data

This page explains how to request deletion of your GoBrief account and the personal data associated with it. GoBrief ("we", "us", or "our") is the mobile application published on Google Play by the developer of GoBrief.
How to Request Account Deletion
GoBrief does not currently offer in-app account deletion. To request that your account and its associated data be permanently deleted, follow these steps:
- Send an email to thealphadays@gmail.com.
- Use the subject line "Account Deletion Request".
- Include the email address associated with your GoBrief account (the email you registered with, or your Google Sign-In email) so we can locate and verify your account.
- To protect your account, we may ask you to verify ownership of the email address before processing the request.
We will acknowledge your request and complete the deletion within 30 days of verifying your identity.
What Data Is Deleted
When your account deletion request is processed, we permanently delete the following data associated with your account:
- Account information: Your email address, password credential, display name, profile photo, and email verification status.
- Google Sign-In data: The Google account email and basic profile information linked to your account.
- Reading activity and progress: Book progress, completion status, reading streaks, saved books, playlists, category goals, and per-book status.
- Growth Plan progress: Your progress through Growth Plans (challenges), including current step, day, completion status, and quiz scores.
- Preferences: Voice settings, translation preferences, playback and appearance settings synced to your account.
- Notification data: Your Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) push token and notification preferences.
- Analytics and crash identifiers: Your user ID is removed from future analytics and crash-reporting association.
What Data May Be Kept, and For How Long
Some data may be retained after account deletion, only where required or permitted by law:
- Subscription and purchase records: Subscription and billing records are managed by RevenueCat and Google Play. Transaction records may be retained by these providers and for our financial, tax, and legal compliance obligations for the period required by applicable law (typically up to 7 years). We do not store your full payment card details.
- Aggregated / anonymized analytics: Data that has been aggregated or anonymized and can no longer be linked to you may be retained for product analytics.
- Legal and security records: Limited records may be retained where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce our Terms of Service.
- Backups: Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period and are overwritten on our normal backup rotation cycle (within 90 days).
Data Stored Only on Your Device
Some preferences and progress are stored locally on your device (via on-device storage). Uninstalling the GoBrief app removes this local data from your device. Local data is separate from the account data described above.
Deleting Some Data Without Deleting Your Account
If you would like to remove specific data (for example, your reading history or saved books) without deleting your entire account, email us at thealphadays@gmail.com and describe what you would like removed. We will respond in accordance with applicable data protection law.
